Over the past few months, all of our centres have been preparing to welcome back learners in September 2020 whilst putting measures in place to ensure centre user's safety.

We are working closely with Public Health Newham and all our centres will comply with government guidelines. Due to the uncertainty on this ongoing situation, our course programme may be subject to change. Please check the website for up to date information on centre openings and courses.

Enrolment for most courses will start on the 7th September 2020. Courses will start on the 14th September 2020.

Coronavirus Update

Newham Adult Learning Service (NALS) provides part-time day and evening courses at a wide range of local centres across Newham recruiting over 8,000 students each year.

Adult Education Centres

There are four main purpose built adult education centres, one in each geographical quarter of the borough, where students can receive advice and guidance before enrolling on a course.  If you need to talk to someone before you enrol about

  • finding the right course for you
  • where your studies can lead you
  • what support is available to help you succeed

At some centres there is limited student parking. Parking cannot be reserved or guaranteed.


Créche Facilities

Some of the centres listed have daytime créche facilities for adult students with children aged between 2 and 5 years of age. Créches are fully equipped and staffed by experienced workers but places are limited and have to be booked in advance. Please ask about childcare facilities when you enrol.


Wheelchair accessible

NALS welcomes disabled students and wheelchair users and if needed will make special arrangements to help all members of the community participate in classes. However, some centres may be more accessible than others. Fully wheelchair accessible centres are indicated by the logo. For more information contact the centre before enrolment.
